T’ai Chi Ch’uan (pronounced tie jee choowan) which originates from China is considered a soft style martial art-an art applied with internal power-to distinguish it from the hard martial art styles. T’ai Chi Ch’uan literally translates as “supreme ultimate fist” (or force). In the west, T’ai Chi Ch’uan is often more simply referred to as Tai Chi.
As an internal art, Tai Chi harmonizes the energy process within the body-Chi-and integrates mind and body. Tai Chi is often characterized as a "Meditation in Motion," because its unique, slow, and graceful movements and breathing help to bring about a state of mental calm and clarity.

JULY
FVU BOOK CLUB
Book discussion
July 13
With summer fast approaching, we would like to invite you to join us in a picnic-style outdoor book discussion after service on July 13th, for our first book of this summer’s Book Club. We’ll have a picnic lunch to share our thoughts and the contents of the baskets provided. Just bring your own lawn chair, your lunch, your appetite and your opinions of this must-read summer book.
Beginning June 1st, we will have available in our Threshold Bookstore the first “pick” for the summer, “Lamb, The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal” by the master of humor, Christopher Moore. This is a humorous retelling of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, written in typical “Christopher Moore-style”. The first section of the novel tells of the adventures of Biff, Joshua, and Maggie (Mary of Magdala) in and around Nazareth. The next three sections take Biff and Joshua to visit and learn from each of the three magi. The last section puts a Christopher Moore spin on the story told in the New Testament.
Look for the sign up sheet for this great summer activity. If you have any questions, see Michelle Kongsuwan, Jamie Lynn Weaver or Gail-Marie Denton.
